Bipartisan Legislation Strengthens Alzheimer’s Public Health Infrastructure

In a significant victory for Alzheimer’s advocacy, the U.S. House of Representatives has approved bipartisan legislation to strengthen the country’s public health response to Alzheimer’s and dementia. The reauthorization of the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act ensures continued funding and resources to improve dementia care across the nation.

First passed in 2018, the BOLD Infrastructure Act has been instrumental in building public health infrastructure to support individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The act funds state and local public health programs, supports early detection and diagnosis, and increases access to care and services for those affected by dementia.

The recent reauthorization, passed in September 2024, will further enhance these efforts, providing communities with the tools they need to combat the growing public health challenge posed by Alzheimer’s disease. The legislation also underscores the importance of public health initiatives in ensuring better outcomes for patients, caregivers, and families.

This bipartisan support demonstrates the ongoing commitment to addressing the Alzheimer’s crisis, which affects over six million Americans and their families. The strengthened public health infrastructure will ensure that resources are available to improve care, raise awareness, and support research for a cure.
